Hello my name is Brenda Leonard and I am the manager of the propane, bulk fuels and HVAC general service departments of the Energy Center at the Northern Lakes Co-op. I grew up on a small horse farm in the village of Lake Nebagamon, Wisconsin which is about 30 miles southeast of Superior. In May 1988 I moved to Hayward following employment opportunities and to raise my two children. In fall of 2001, I began my career with the Co-op sharing a position between the business office and energy department. After a short time, I worked solely in the energy department and in late fall of 2006, became manager. While happily married for seven years, my husband and I are enjoying our combined family of four children, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. When not at the Co-op you will find me enjoying one of my pastimes such as snowmobiling, snowshoeing, bowling, playing the piano, fishing, water skiing, bike riding, playing at the beach, reading, hanging out with family or playing with my grandkids. |

I am Bruce Ostrom, manager at the Northern Lakes Co-op Auto Center. My family has lived in the Minong area since the late 1800s and I have lived in Minong for the past seven years. I was born in Milwaukee and spent my first 19 years in Brookfield. When I was 20 years old I started my migration north. The first stop was a little town called Hingham just a little southwest of Sheboygan. While I lived in Hingham I worked for Kohler Co. in the brass machining area. At Kohler I was the supervisor of several areas including things like first line production, tool and die department, and CNC programming. After 28 years at Kohler Co. I decided it was time for a change. The next year I remodeled houses. It was work that I loved, but it did not seem to be a reliable way to earn a living, so I moved to Minong. During the next four years I owned a car repair business with my son. It became obvious that being in business with family was not so I moved on again, to the Co-op.
It has now been a little over three years since I joined the Co-op family and I plan to stay here for a long time yet. I was very lucky to join the Co-op at a time of great rebuilding, a very exciting and challenging time for the Co-op. I am very happy to have been a part of the Co-op during this rebuilding, and truly look forward to the opportunities that the future is going to present for the Co-op. |

Hi, I am Del Cottrell manager of the Gadgets Computer Store, the newest member of the Northern Lakes Co-op businesses. We offer computer sales and service as well as a computer lab. The lab is open for public meetings, Internet browsing and computer gaming. Computers have been a part of my life since 1985 and I have used them at my job and home ever since. The ever-changing world of computers is what keeps me interested in my job and helping others learn more about computers is a very rewarding experience. Other jobs I have worked at include the U.S. Army, several mechanic positions and three years in the heating and cooling business prior to joining the NLC Auto Center team in 2003 as a tire tech. Currently I live in Trego with my wife Lisa and two children, Douglas and Rebecca. We love to travel and visit extended family throughout the Midwest. Weekend getaways throughout the year usually consist of a stay at a water park hotel. Geo-caching and antique tractor equipment shows along with airplanes are some of my other favorite pastimes. |

Hello, I’m Joy Wadas, the Northern Lakes Co-op Feed Mill Manager. I was born and raised in NW Indiana. I graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana with a B.S. in Agriculture and Animal Science. I have been employed at the Co-op for the last 14 years, and in addition to being the Feed Mill manager, I have also been a licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator in the State of Wisconsin for the last 16 years. Although I love all critters, I hold a special place in my heart for raccoons. Together with my husband of 20 years, Ollie, we enjoy our “off” times with our many animals (dogs, cats, goats, horses, chickens, domestic birds) and by enjoying sports of all kinds, but mainly hockey and inline skating.

Hi! I’m Lana Johnson the manager of Northern Lakes Co-op Hardware Hank. I have been employed here for the last 31 years, 26 of those years as manager. I am originally from Shell Lake, Wisconsin. I have been married to my husband Joel for 36 years, and we have two wonderful grown children - Lindsay and Christopher. In my spare time, I enjoy all of the natural beauty that this quiet rural area has to offer by kayaking, walking, hiking, and gardening. I also love to read. The things that I love most about working at the Northern Lakes Co-op are the customers and the employees here at the Hardware Store. We truly have an awesome staff, and we all look forward to assisting our patrons with their questions or concerns- whether it is mixing up a special color of paint, or helping them with a home improvement project. |
